Saint-Laurent chapel
Why take advantage?
Saint Laurent's destiny is linked to Iliz-Koz in TrƩmƩnac'h.
The 16th-century Notre Dame de PitiƩ chapel (bell tower stone) became the parish church of TrƩmƩnac'h in 1729, following the silting-up of the coastline and the Iliz-Koz enclosure. In 1792, TrƩmƩnac'h was abolished and attached to Plouguerneau. The chapel has undergone numerous transformations over the centuries. It is currently dedicated to the martyrs Laurent and Etienne.
The bell tower and entrance door, along with an interior stoup, are the oldest elements of the present-day chapel (15th or 16th century). The door in the bell tower gable appears to date from the 18th century. The entire structure was rebuilt in 1863.
In addition to the chapel and its bell tower, the exterior pulpit and the reliquary from the former cemetery can be admired to the south of the calvary; to the west, the former presbytery; to the east, the old Bod-Billeau mill and to the north, the devotional fountain.
