Saint Claude Chapel

Why take advantage?

The 16th-century chapel existed in 1577, when Michel Le Nobletz was born. His father, Hervé, was one of the four royal notaries of Léon: he would have liked his son to become a powerful prelate. Michel preferred a life of poverty in the service of souls. Without respite, he traveled throughout Léon and Cornouaille, visiting ports and islands. He spent 20 years in Douarnenez, then in Le Conquet, where he died in 1652. The domestic chapel, originally small, was enlarged. Doubled in size in 1860, it became the chapel for the whole Leuré and Zorn area, with its weekly religious services. Shortly before the Second World War, it was enlarged again, then brought back to its present size around 1975. It houses statues of Saint Claude, bishop of Besançon, Saint Yves, Saint Marguerite (all 16th century) and Michel Le Nobletz (1977).
