Svarte's "Herbario" exhibition

Herbario - which means "herbarium" in Esperanto - is a photographic project built up over the years and seasons, with the complicity of models. It features a series of images combining plants and body details. The compositions are graphic and uncluttered. The aesthetic evokes both the softness and the pastel tones of Japanese prints.
The story of an image begins as soon as the plant is found and picked.
Flowers, leaves, fruit, branches: these are all reflections of the model's aesthetic tastes, links with his or her sensibility and personal history. During the session, the photographer's work consists of soberly staging these two subjects, playing with proximity and shadow, contrasting materials and colors, sharpness and blur.
The skin is both fragile and a surface for contact and touch. Plants adorn and embellish.
